The QuikArt™ Stylus is the ideal ergonomically designed tool for cutting clay of all types. Its design allows it to be held comfortably and firmly like a pencil or with the tip of your finger on the top of the stylus head for greater visibility of the stylus and excellent control!

There are three styles of QuikArt Stylus:
  • Fine:  For cutting out little items with a finer line.  4.25" long with a .015 diameter tip that is 1/4" long.

  • Standard:  For use with all QuikArt Templates.  4.25" long with a .020 diameter tip that is 1/4" long.

  • Long:  For thicker clay creations such as bronze, copper and especially pottery clay.  4.25" long with a .020 diameter tip that is 3/8" long.
The QuikArt Stylus provides much better and more precise control than a needle tool or scalpel! It is the ideal tool for working with all metal clays, polymer clay and pottery clay! Every clay enthusiast and artist should have a QuikArt Stylus in their tool kit!

If you think it doesn't make any difference what tool you use to cut clay - think again! A needle tool is tapered. When you draw the needle tool through the clay it leaves behind a V-shaped cut. If you are after a square edge then you will have to refine the edge and whose to say it will be uniform all the way around? With the QuikArt Stylus this is NOT a problem. It is made with a 20 thousandths diameter steel rod that gives you the nice square cut you see above!

When I first saw the Quick Art Stylus, I thought it was just another metal clay tool I didn't need. I have been using an extra thin, tapered needle tool which worked great. But out of curiosity, last week I ordered the QA Stylus and I am very happy I did.

First, I am on my second needle tool and like my first one, I have bent its fine tip. Second, because I tend to be heavy-handed, I damage my work surfaces frequently with the sharp point.

With the QA Stylus, I am using less downward pressure and my work surfaces are surviving longer. It is more comfortable in my hand and makes cutting around a template easier.

I still use my needle tool...to cut off the amount of lump clay I want to work with!
