  SlipStick Clay Mixer (4-1/2" long)

Additional Photos:

Metal clay artist Bridgette Rallo came to us with a tool idea for easily and efficiently making slip from saved up clay remnants. After much designing, prototyping and testing by the MCS team and Bridgette, she is ecstatic to finally have the tool she envisioned.

The springy action allows for clay to be mashed and mixed while being stirred with a whisk like action. The upper spring is covered with a protective coating to minimize clean up. The surgical rubber grip makes the SlipStick™ a comfort to use! It is well built and will give many years of service. The SlipStick™ is destined to find its way into every metal clay artist's tool set.

About Bridgette

From her earliest memories, Bridgette L. Rallo has been in love with jewelry – not just any jewelry, but handmade art jewelry. Her first encounters with this kind of jewelry came as a child in the 1950’s through her father’s friends. Her dad, a New York City jazz drummer, had many friends in the hip art scene of the fifties. Several of them wore brilliantly conceived, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry.

She began her affair in earnest as a high school student, making pieces for herself and her friends until a visiting artist noticed the quality of design and attention to detail Rallo incorporated into her work. In exchange for lessons in painting, she began an offhanded apprenticeship with the Italian artist, Paula Wolfson, which lasted for three years.

During that time, she absorbed the fundamentals of abstract art from one of its celebrated European proponents.

Rallo then studied with and worked for East Hampton potter and sculptor Frank Pereira. It was in his studio that Rallo met the next generation of 1960’s jewelry artists, many of whom sold their work through Pereira.

Rallo immersed herself in the mechanics of her craft after deciding to start her own business fifteen years ago.

She studied metalsmithing and Precious Metal Clay (PMC) techniques with prize-winning jewelry artist Susan Lewis of Metalmorphosis Studio in Dania, FL, PMC techniques with Vera Lightstone of Lightstone Studios in Manhattan and various jewelry-making techniques with well known instructors at the Brookfield Craft Center in Brookfield, CT, including Robert Dancik and CeCe Wire. She was the advanced PMC columnist for BeadBugle.com, an online jewelry trade magazine, for two years before deciding to spend all of her time creating jewelry and teaching in her studio in the beautiful Litchfield Hills in Connecticut. Rallo is a member of the PMC Guild (Level Two) and is scheduled to begin teaching beginning through advanced jewelry techniques in metal clay at the Guilded Lynx Studio and Gallery in Ridgefield, CT, this fall.
