Think the SFEM™ has a small firing capacity? NOT so using any combination of these firing shelves!

To demonstrate the ultimate capacity we used quarters to simulate an average silver clay creation. Fully loaded, the Shelf Set will accommodate 27 coins. You can see next to the SFEM base how much metal clay that really is. We also converted the specific gravity of the quarter to that of fine silver and the total weight in fine silver clay that you could theoretically fire is 228 grams!

Each shelf is 3" square. When stacked, the shelf(s) under the top one will have a useable surface of 2-1/4" x 3".

Some suggestions…

Make sure that the shelves are in the CENTER of the kiln base so they won't touch the kiln elements.

Make sure you move the kiln straight up and down when placing it on the kiln base to avoid bumping the shelf stack.

Make sure that the angle of the leg edges are bent in enough to make them stable sitting on top of one another as shown in the image of them stacked.

The wire edges can be a bit sharp so exercise care in handling.

Being a stainless product the shelves will "shed" tiny carbon flakes during firing. This effect will diminish over time as the shelves are used. The particles are NOT harmful to anything and can simply be swept off the shelf into the trash with a paint brush or a dry cloth or dust vacuumed off.

Something we haven't tested yet but should work is using ceramic fiber paper on each shelf. We believe that quite a few glass fusing projects could be accomplished at one time!
